An independent examination is a cost-effective way for smaller charities to meet their financial reporting requirements. The income level for qualifying for an independent examination has recently been increased to £500,000 and the scope extended to include both unincorporated charities and charitable companies.
Compared to a full audit, the real benefit to your charity is the scope to save costs. The lighter examination regime requires less work and means you no longer require the services of a firm of registered auditors. While it involves a lower level of scrutiny than an audit, it still provides trustees and other stakeholders the assurance that the accounts have been reviewed by an independent person
Our approach
We believe that charities of all sizes should expect a professional and value added service from their accountants. We have a combined experience of over 20 years working in the charity and not-for-profit sector. Between us we have provided audit, accounting and financial consultancy services for charities as well as being finance managers and trustees within charities.
We currently provide examination services to a range of charities including newly established international NGOs, community organisations and faith based groups.
We are members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and associate members of the Association of Charity Independent Examiners.
